another fainting story
I have fainted several times in my life due to low blood pressure, sometimes being aggravated by other things, this time it was giving a pint of blood in ten minutes.I was excited that I weighed enough finally to donate blood (julie kicking her young arrogant butt). My BP was 100/52, but apparently they saw no problem in me loosing a pint of blood in ten minutes. I actually felt fine through the ordeal (needles don't bother me) and was having my cookie and OJ and when I got up to leave, I fell flat on my face (yes it hurt later!).
Add to this that I was wearing a 'scort' - shorts/skirt like thing and was vain enough to only wear panty hose ONLY b/c I didn't want a 'panty line' (kicking little arrogant butt again). I have sometimes had a seizure when I pass out, the dr explained that it's from lack of o2 to the brain and not all that uncommon and that I don't have seizure disorder.
I apparently did have a slight seizure and when I came too and there was a person at each arm restraining me while someone had my legs verticle and a wallet was headed towards my mouth.
You would think that the people at Medic blood bank would be better trained on how to deal w/ someone having a seizure b/c they did all the WRONG things. You don't restrain a person, you certainly don't put anything in their mouth. At anyrate, after it was all over with and I was a bit disoriented, I couldn't help but notice the crowd around me. I called for a friend to pick me up and while waiting, a nurse said to me, 'I just wanted you to know that no one saw anything' to which I replied, 'I appreciate that, but b/c you say that , I know they did, plus the fact that my skort was at my hips while my legs were at a 90 degree angle, I'm sure my fuzzy brown walnut was indeed on disiplay, thanks anyway for trying to comfort me.'
