If you still had any doubts that this war was created to meet Bush's agenda, then read here.This document has gotten wide exposure in Britain and in Europe, but has been quiet here in the states. It clearly states his desire to invade in July 2002 and discusses the logistics about how they could go about justifying this pre-emptive war when Iraq was of no threat to us.
I don't know how to express the hurt I feel, it is deep down to my soul, of how our country would purposely go to war for political and monetary gain. Of how deceptive and corrupt our government is, and how apathetic we are to let them do this damage and how we supported something so violent for reasons the whole world knew were lies. I appreciate and honor all of our troops that give their lives and put them on the line daily for our freedom, but it should be for the right reason - their lives are too valuable. Our freedom has never been at stake, except by the Bush administration. The Bush administration sees people as expendable, anything to get what he wants, just collateral damage. 100,000 Iraqi civilians - and we were outraged at the 9/11 attack that was in the thousands, how would we feel if someone attacked us to overthrow this administration and we had 100,000 civilians killed. And our troops, the numbers keep going up and up, over 1500 now. WE invaded and overthrew and installed our own govt there and killed lots of people in the process, changing the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, based on lies that our govt knew were lies, and for what? Some oil? To free Iraq from Saddam? Come on, there are terrible dictators all over the world that need to be brought down, like north Korea, that guy is completely nuts and cruel and inhumane and he does have nuclear capabilities, but that is not our role. No, we did it b/c the God of this country is the Economy and much of that depends on the oil/auto world. No one in their right mind, respecting the teachings of Jesus would ever justify what has happened.
Now that some of the recorded tapes of LBJ are out, we know that the Gulf of Tonkin (see npr) was all a hoax to enable us to get into the Vietnam war.
