Homeland Security
It should worry everyone that a few weeks ago when I ventured to the court house to take care of some personal business regarding my property deed, the courthouse guard who does searchs of your purse, etc when you enter, waved me through by just looking at my state bldg ID. He said 'here little lady, let me see that'. And as I walked through the sensor, it actually went off and I stopped, but he said 'it's ok, keep going.'. Now, I had no official business there and my ID tag is only an ID that lets me into the state bldg several blocks down the road, not for the courthouse, nor was it really my true form of gov employment proof of ID.And this was not the first time this has happened.
I could have easily had a gun, small explosive device, you name it w/ me in my purse as I wasn't searched and was told to go on, even though the sensor went off (probably b/c I have about 50 keys on my keyring).
I find this all too disturbing. I found it convienent and s/w cool and rather a power trip as well, but really very disturbing.
I do always find it embarassing to have my purse searched the feminine products inside, but that is irrelevent.
That is not something to be Joyful about (see post below).
So, I'll be coming up w/ something else to be joyful about -how about the beauitful crocus outside that are blooming this morning, the promise of spring and new life and things yet to come. Now I have to find something nice to do for someone today (beside bitch about the lack of security at our courthouse).
