Happy Labour Day Weekend!
Hey Guys, thanks for all the great comments and wonderful support and prayers for my friend.His surgery went as well as they could hope, although they had to 'open him up' instead of it being less invasive as they had hoped (going through the opening where his drainage tubes had been). They did a tracheotomy on him and they hope to decrease the sedation and wean him off the respirator this weekend, so things are looking up now!
In honor of Labour day, I'm going to relax myself and go camping at Elkmont campground and will return on Tuesday. I hope everyone else will enjoy themselves and relax as well.
I am glad I am not around Knoxville to deal w/ the Boomsday crowd and quagmire.
It has long since lost it's appeal for me - no offense to those who do enjoy it.
Also in honor of Labour day, I want to mention a great documentary that I watched this week titled 'The Corporation". I viewed it on the Sundance channel. I was of course not surprised at all of the horrible things that the big greedy corporate world does, but shocked at how ignorant I am and I try to stay educated on these matters. I did rather enjoy a scene (though the whole matter was disgusting) where Michael Moore approached the CEO of NIKE to ask him if he would like to tour the NIKE manufacturing plants in Indonesia b/c the CEO had never ever been there. Mr. Moore had two first class plane tickets to take him there. OF course he refused to go, but later did phone him up and said that he might could make it on a side trip when he went to Australia to view a big Tennis open, would Mr. Moore like to accompany him to the Tennis Open?
Also of note was that even after all that press and publicity about sweet Kathy Lee Gifford and her line of clothing that super giant Wal-mart Sells that five year old China kids make for 3 Cents a day (really that is accurate about the three cents a day, but I am not sure about the age), the same conditions exist and nothing has changed w/ her line of clothing whatsoever!!
